EXPERIENCE PINOT NOIR LIKE NEVER BEFORE It is a common belief that the juice from red grapes is, in fact, red. The truth is that the inside, or pulp, of most red grapes is essentially "white". Only their skins are red. Most wines are made with just the inside of a grape. The red color in red wine is created by allowing the fleshy interior to mix with the pulpy skins when it is being made. This process infuses red wines with its distinctive color. Yes, you can make extraordinary white wine with red grapes like Coeur Blanc, a fine white wine made from a grape with a decidedly red exterior.
WHAT IS COEUR BLANC?
Coeur Blanc is a unique, barrel-fermented white wine made from fully mature, 100% estate-grown Pinot Noir grapes. It is full-bodied, richly textured and has a flavor profile that captures both the red and white wine characteristics of our cool climate growing region.
HOW IS COEUR BLANC MADE?
Ripe, estate-grown Pinot Noir is hand harvested and gently whole-cluster pressed, limiting contact with the purple grape skins so that only the purest essence, or “white heart” juice is expressed. The resulting juice is barrel fermented in French oak and aged on the lees for 15 months. Coeur Blanc is further aged one year in bottle before release and is a one-of-a-kind representation of Pinot Noir that offers a new spectrum of flavors and aromas, while maintaining its varietal character.
WHY DO WE MAKE COEUR BLANC?
The goal is to create a new expression of Pinot Noir and to present a truly unique offering: World-class Pinot Noir as a white wine.
WHY IS COEUR BLANC SPECIAL?
The flavor profile of Coeur Blanc is an exciting new idea in the world of Pinot Noir. It is rich and complex; displaying flavors ranging from strawberries, cherries and citrus to marzipan, flint and mineral. Less than half of the available juice is taken from each grape for Coeur Blanc, making it a rare and delicate style of Pinot Noir. |
